Heirloom-The slender fruits are purple & up to 18” long & 2” in diameter w/shiny dk lavender skin. So sweet, tender & superbly delicious! Hardy, vigorous, & disease resistant. One plant can yield up to 20 fruits per plant. Stake plants to maintain straight fruits. The tender skin does not need to be peeled. One of the best Asian eggplants on the market. The plant is a small endive technically of the French Trés Fine Maraîchère type, often referred to as "frisée" in the salad mix trade. Smooth but deeply cut, toothed pale green leaves. Full-size heads form a mass of tender blanched leaves at the heart for salad mix. Like all of these types, it can be sensitive to tipburn (particularly in hot weather) and requires an attentive grower. Mild flavor.

Noted to be the best performing Escarole! An early variety that makes heavy, dense, lettuce-like heads of mildly bitter, curly leaves suitable for salads, soups, and sauteing. To harvest, clip individual leaves or harvest the whole head by cutting just above the root attachment. A compact plant with paler leaves than Eliance.
