ALOIAMPELOS striatula (syn. ALOE striatula)

Shrub: Evergreen succulent. Tolerates drought, heat, deer and rabbits. South Africa native. Bushy, scrambling variety with leaf sheaths and stems which are light and dark green striped. Can "climb" if given support. Dramatic flower spikes are held 6-18" above the foliage. Attracts hummingbirds. Bloom time: spring-summer. Bloom color: yellow with protruding orange stamens. Height: 2-4 feet. Width: 1-6 feet. Exposure: sun/part shade. Water: moderate/dry. USDA Z8-12.
